Fort Greene Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux, the designers of Central and Prospect Parks, is the crown jewel with its year round farmers market. The architecture found nearby is some of the very best in NYC, exemplified by the Pratt mansions on Clinton Avenue and brownstone blocks that are consistently on the city’s top 10 lists. The newly opened Brooklyn Flea on Vanderbilt Avenue is already getting national attention and is reminiscent of the immortalized 26th Street Flea market in Chelsea. BAM, with its emergence as the cultural cornerstone of the area, is a favorite for movies and performances of all kinds.
